Why Aren't My Miracles Answered?

Last night, I was with old and new friends at Offtrack, a cocktail bar playing city pop vinyl. We engaged in small talk and deep conversations about life, work, and our recent holidays. However, a pressing question weighed on my mind throughout the evening: "Why aren't my miracles answered?"

Specifically, as a creative individual striving to monetize my creations, I've become fixated on seeking signs and wonders. I find myself comparing my work, eagerly anticipating the next viral reel or a piece of artwork that will lead to sales.

When I hold a high opinion of a product, I feel a sense of conviction. But when the sales fall short of my expectations, I become disappointed and disheartened. This cycle has turned into a pattern where I approach potential products with fear, worrying that they will become unsold inventory.

A conversation with a product designer further ignited these thoughts. She recently embraced full-time employment that provides stability while allowing her to continue her creative pursuits. She believes her job will enhance her creative process. While I admire her courage, I wonder if I should also seek ‘real’ work while waiting for my next ‘miracle’. Consequently, I find myself sitting in front of my laptop, attempting to make sense of why is my miracle not happening:

Have I reduced my miracles to tasks on a to-do list?

Our minds are powerful. When we focus our thoughts on something, we can take action. By transforming my miracles into mere items on a to-do list, I limit them to what seems achievable within the natural realm. However, miracles are extraordinary events that defy natural laws and are attributed to divine intervention. Consequently, my hopes are no longer seen as miracles but rather as mere tasks.

Have I imposed timelines on my miracles?

Similar to the previous point, attaching a specific timeframe to my miracles limits their true nature. Miracles are supernatural occurrences that transcend our physical concept of time. If I continue to set an expiration date for my miracles, I may find myself giving up before they come to fruition.

“To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven…”

Ecclesiastes‬ ‭3‬:‭1‬‬‬

Have you notice that in some waiting, it helps shift our perspectives towards our situations?Else how can we stay hopeful under the wings of heaven? 🌈

Have I compared my miracles to those of others?

Social media inundates us with images and stories of others experiencing wonderful moments. We scroll through countless posts, hoping to witness miracles happening to others and desiring them for ourselves. These range from dream jobs to nomadic lifestyles to extravagant houses, all portraying an outwardly rich existence.

Then I stumbled upon a question God whispered,
“Are you glorifying Me(God) or the riches of this world?”

In my personal journey, I’m coming to realize that miracles need not always be grand transformations. They can occur within the everyday moments of slowing down and appreciating life. As I take another sip from my seemingly bottomless cocktail, I realize, "Hey, I'm still here." I am, in fact, living in a miracle—a dream that was once only imagined.

My duty is to glorify God’s goodness, not my earthly riches. Miracles are God at work, and I am not in control. Time and space operate beyond my comprehension in today's context. However, throughout history and across generations, there are countless stories, both shared and hidden, of miracles that continue to manifest.

You see, God always remembers. He vividly recalls the prayers we uttered in our youth, the tears we shed, and the moments of solitude when we cried out silently.

“DaddyGod was with me during the times when it seemed the universe was working against me."

As I continue to write, the broken pieces of my being slowly come together. Over time, I begin to recognize the miracles that surround me. If only I could write a book that starts from the beginning and concludes with an open ending. It would serve as undeniable proof of how good God has been to me.

I don’t even know how to end this but if you’re here, praying earnestly for a miracle, this is my prayer for you:

Dear God, Thank You for reminding us of the wonders and miracles from Your boundless existence, power, and eternal truth. Amidst the chaos of this world, You reveal Yourself in subtle and profound ways, patiently waiting for us to yield to You. Help us redefine the essence of heavenly miracles in our lives. May we no longer perceive them as mere numerical fulfillments, but rather as a transformative journey alongside You; a sacred partnership, walking hand in hand with You through the corridors of faith. may our spirits attune themselves to the rhythm of Your heartbeat, growing ever more attentive to Your divine guidance. Your love surpasses all boundaries, and Your plans for us transcend our understanding. Help us to internalize this truth and embrace the marvelous thoughts You hold for our lives. Amen.
