Seize the moment
FROM MY JOURNAL | 3O.1O.2019
But Jesus was quick to comfort them. “Courage, it’s me. Don’t be afraid.” Peter, suddenly bold, said, “Master, if it’s really you, call me to come to you on the water.” He said, “Come ahead.” Jumping out of the boat, Peter walked on the water to Jesus. But when he looked down at the waves churning beneath his feet, he lost his nerve and started to sink. He cried, “Master, save me!” Jesus didn’t hesitate. He reached down and grabbed his hand. Then he said, “Faint-heart, what got into you?”
Then Jesus said, “Be brave and don’t be afraid. I am here!” Peter shouted out, “Lord, if it’s really you, then have me join you on the water!”
“Come and join me,” Jesus replied. So Peter stepped out onto the water and began to walk toward Jesus. But when he realized how high the waves were, he became frightened and started to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he cried out. Jesus immediately stretched out his hand and lifted him up and said, “What little faith you have! Why would you let doubt win?”
Oh, Peter, this story never gets old.
At some point we probably read it in a way, thinking about how Peter has failed to fix his eyes on Jesus. We probably thought we’ll never have enough faith or even be brave enough to follow Christ. I know obedience is tougher than it says.
But this story is far greater than our imperfections suppressed as men and women.
This is a story of God’s tender heart ♥️
As soon as Peter lost his grip, he cried for help! Immediately! Instantly! Jesus without any hesitation reached out His hands to Peter.
I wondered how far did Peter walk? Was it close enough for Jesus to grab him or did Jesus run closer to catch Peter?
Just look at Jesus’ first reaction, He saved first, and talk later. Imagine if He was just arrogant and laughed at Peter’s weakness.
I am grateful, He is a good good Father. He is a God of action when it comes to expressing His affection for you and me. He saves and He loves.
God’s words are
always encouraging
always comforting
always building us up
“Simply join your life with Mine. Learn My ways and you’ll discover that I’m gentle, humble, easy to please. You will find refreshment and rest in Me.”
This is why I love reading the Bible. It’s always so full of God’s love especially true when you read it through the heart of our Father in Heaven.
I pray that you’ll taste and see His goodness over your life today.
Maybe the next two months will be busy for you, closing accounts and making ends meet. I pray that you’ll find yourself in secret places with God. Even if it takes a whispering conversation, I pray that you’ll seize the moment to encounter Jesus.
No matter where you are.
MY MOMENTS WITH JESUS
One thing I’ve learned through my adult life is to find Jesus in the most unexpected places. Too often we think it has to be a church or at least a proper setting that is likely a holy ground.
What you need to debunk right now is to think that you need to be in holy places to meet God. You know what? Christ lives in you! To whoever believes and invited Jesus into their hearts. He lives in you. You carry His glow everywhere you go.
Even at a nightclub, God is with you.
So, don’t let the enemy make you think you’re not worth it because God sees us through, Jesus. Anyone who believes is made holy in Jesus’ mighty name.
The Holy Spirit of God has sealed you in Jesus Christ until you experience your full salvation. So never grieve the Spirit of God or take for granted his holy influence in your life.
When I am in the most chaotic situation, and I need to get out alive, I’ll utter the words, “God, help me.” and I know immediately my atmosphere shifted. I know if God is for me, who can be against me? There are ample evidence in my life that Christ went before me.
Well, life did not change immediately for me. It was a long process that turns out slower than I expected. Yet in the past 4-5 years, my encounter with God happens any time of the day. I talk to Jesus in the shower, while doing my makeup, at the market, and on the bus. The moment I keep my phone away, I know He wants to talk to me.
It has now become a lifestyle. It is like having my husband next to me all the time. But of cos in reality I can’t have any man next to me 24/7. Only Jesus can.
Be brave my friend. Like Peter, sometimes we need to seize that adventure with Jesus! Only God can turn your situation around. Just seek Him and you’ll find Him drawing close to you. So near that His fragrance will linger wherever you go. You’ll find Him waiting with arms open wide.
Sweet child of God. He loves you and you’ll always be His beloved one. Seize each moment if you’re asking for an encounter. He is always ready to meet you in the middle.
Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.
